NCAA Football Week 1

The college football season started off with a bang this weekend, here’s some of the top plays from this weekend.

(#9)South Carolina 17 Vanderbilt 13

South Carolina disappointed me a bit in this game the passing game was awful but Marcus Lattimore lead the charge with 110 YDS 2 TD’s on a 4.8 AVG and Connor Shaw added 92 YDS on a 6.6 AVG. Vanderbilt put up a good fight and shocked some people.

(#2)USC 49 Hawaii 10

Matt Barkley started off his Heisman campaign off the right way by posting 23/38 with 372 YDS 9.8 AVG and 4 TD’s 0 INT’s. This really wasn’t a game Hawaii didn’t score until the Third quarter by the time that happened it was 35-7 and game was way out of reach. Marqise Lee had 10 receptions for 197 YDS and 1 TD. Another noteable stat Silas Redd who transferred to USC from Penn State had 9 carries for 56 yards and 1 TD, I’d look for some big numbers in the upcoming weeks for Silas Redd he fits perfectly into USC’s system and will flourish in USC.

(#14)Ohio Sate 56 Miami(OH) 10

The Urban Meyer era seems to be a success… so far its only Miami of Ohio but they dominated the way they should. Last year Luke Fickell struggled through every team including the weaker teams, so it was a pleasant thing to see. Braxton Miller fits Urbans spread offense perfectly he was 14/24 with 207 YDS 2 TD also he rushed for 161 YDS. The offense started off very slow the first couple series but after driving down the field and a insane Devin Smith TD catch got things going for the Ohio State offense. The only thing for Braxton’s game that needs work is his deep ball accuracy and his accuracy in general but those are things that can be fixed with practice, we have to remember that he’s a sophmore. I think by the time he’s a Junior and hopefully he stays for his Senior year he can be a scary dual threat quarterback.

Perhaps the most hyped up game of the week was Bama vs. Michigan and it was a disappointment. Denard Robinson needed to have a huge game instead he posted 11/26 200 YDS and 1 TD 2 INT with 10 rushes for 27 YDS his accuracy was a cause of concern. In my opinion I think Michigan was overrated from the get go I don’t think they should’ve been #8 but that’s just my opinion. (That may be a bit biased because I am a Ohio State fan.) T.J. Yeldon had some big shoes to fill with Trent Richardson leaving, T.J. had 11 carries for 111 yds and a TD.
